I suspect that it is not being examined correctly.  It seems tied to
moving v.large files - I only have issues with disk images over 3GB, or
*multiple* large (>250MB) files.

My guess is that if has been checked, it has only been checked with
substantially smaller files and so the issue doesn't present itself.

Mine was an 8.04 iso installed onto a new hard-drive, then patched to
8.10 using the  automatic system - no RAID - just about as vanilla as
you can go, and the machine has only been used for handling media files.

I agree it is annoying, as it is stuff like this that prevents one being
able to rely on Linux - this is a dedicated Linux media box connected to
the TV, on an otherwise Windows network.

Even more annoyingly the Windows side of life works perfectly - even
with 8GB backup DVD images.
