The different method in that abookrc is from the 0.6.0 RC, not from the 0.5.6 version of abook, just for the record. Unfortunately upstream seem to have lost their enthusiasm to finalize the 0.6.0 release, and I was adviced back then to not push the RC version into any release. Maybe I should try to get in contact with them again to get an update about it ...
