Thank you for your email. It is all set now. I think the problem arise
when i attempted to install Acronis TrueImage for Linux. That software
require the use of dkms. I was playing around with the dkms package and
maybe something messed up. After I un-installed Acronis and re-load
dkms, theupdate package installed successfully. I tried to go back to
bugs.launchpad to change status, but don't know how. Thanks.

Subject: [Bug 342652] Re: dkms 2.0.20.4-0ubuntu2.1_all.deb failed to installed

It looks like you have an invalid /etc/init.d/dkms_autoinstaller along
with modified /usr/sbin/dkms and /usr/share/man/man8/dkms.8.gz. This
has come up before but the original poster couldn't explain where those
deltas came from.

When did you first install DKMS? When did you first install Ubuntu?
When did you do upgrades?

** Changed in: dkms (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Incomplete
