I have just tried using the new computer janitor, which recommended to remove libgnome-desktop-2 and libgnome-desktop-2-7.
Now, when I try to run gnome-panel, I get the following (in the terminal, not in a window): gnome-panel: error while loading shared libraries: libgnome- desktop-2.so.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Is gnome-panel linked to the wrong version of libgnome-desktop? Jaunty seems to install libgnome-desktop-2-11 by default. I believe that I installed libgnome-desktop-2-7 after trying to get gnome-panel to work. If I symlink /usr/lib/libgnome-desktop-2.so.11 to /usr/lib/libgnome- desktop-2.so.7, it brings up the bonobo-activation error in the initial report. Again, hope that this is of some help. I nominated it for Jaunty release (this is my first bug report - I don't know the protocol - have I overstepped my bounds?), since it seems like an issue that will affect x86_64 upgrade users. -Nick -- gnome-panel crashes on login (could not register with bonobo-activation-server) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/357261 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
