The new kernel with the old driver work fine with one exception - my laptop will restart with no problem but now when I shut it down, it seems to shut almost all of the way down - to the point where the screen goes black right before it would normally power down but it never actually powers down. Now to shut it down, I have to wait to this point and then hold the power button until it fully shuts down.
