I also see this problem (and have since 8.10). Symptoms for me are: Go to sleep (works the same as Windows) - slight pause - lights go out - orange sleep LED comes on and power light off
Wakeup using lid or power button - machine stirs briefly (I think the HD powers up) - Green power lamp comes on (but no other status, no HD lamp) - Machine shuts down (as if the power button had been held) - all lamps off [new in 9.04] - about a second later the laptop powers back on, but fails to do anything more. To recover, hold power button until off and then power on again (obviously this doesn't allow recovery) In the dmesg log w...@fujitsu-siemens:~$ more dmesg.log | grep -i -A4 -B2 magic [ 3.559594] Using IPI No-Shortcut mode [ 3.559698] registered taskstats version 1 [ 3.559838] Magic number: 5:462:481 [ 3.559939] Marking TSC unstable due to TSC halts in idle [ 3.559949] rtc_cmos 00:07: setting system clock to 2009-04-17 12:28:02 UTC (1239971282) [ 3.559952] BIOS EDD facility v0.16 2004-Jun-25, 0 devices found [ 3.559954] EDD information not available.
