@ktp420: notify-osd is the result of different design decisions. We understand and acknowledge that this may not match the work habits of all of our users, and that's why the straciatella session mechanism exists.
If you prefer to have notifications at a specific position or with one of the configuration option that n-d provides but that n-osd does not support, then I think you should use notification-daemon. This is a perfectly valid choice.
