  the update-manager gui disapears may be after finishing the step 'preparing 
for upgrade'. when run from the command line, the same thing happens and there 
is no output trace. 
  before taking new updates (apport ,python fixes ...) the upgrade fails as 
well but there was a trace when run on the command line. (something related to 
python_hook module does not exist).
