Since last patch 3 days ago , on the 9 of January 2007.. I am having freeze on
my pc now. I am using Edgy. the last patch of course were kernel Relater and
Xorg
I see my hard drive being used suddenly heavily and causing an Xorg
Freeze/Lockup. after a while it stops and I have to restart gdm.. Then
looking at the logs I get
Jan 12 08:04:31 localhost kernel: [17216804.228000] hda:
dma_timer_expiry: dma status == 0x21
Jan 12 08:04:41 localhost kernel: [17216814.228000] hda: DMA timeout error
Jan 12 08:04:41 localhost kernel: [17216814.228000] hda: dma timeout
error: status=0xd0 { Busy }
Jan 12 08:05:03 localhost kernel: [17216814.228000] ide: failed opcode

Jan 12 08:05:03 localhost kernel: [17216814.228000] hda: DMA disabled
Jan 12 08:05:03 localhost kernel: [17216836.796000] ide0: reset: success
dma
This was working totally fine prior to that last update. I suppose the last
update on the linux 2.6-17 is the one causing problem
This is painful and I am having that problem quite a few times a day
now.. So please take a look at it
