I tried editing the boot sequence to see if that had anything to do with
it, then tried reinstalling... no luck, and so here I am again.

As per the hard drive's instruction manual (also a Seagate, by the way)
I put jumpers on the outer-most pins of the jumper block in order to
slow the drive down enough for my motherboard to use it. Could this be a
problem?
