Ditto - creating a file "/etc/modprobe.d/options.conf" with the line (no quotes): "options psmouse proto=imps" and then a restart seems to have done the trick for me. 30 minutes to an hour of use and have not seen the behavior which previously plagued my waking moments. EEE PC 900A, Jaunty.
