I am using the Java eToken from Aladdin and ver 4.55 middleware. I found that using the latest version of pcscd works (1.5.3) when running the compiled binary with the existing 1.4.102 already installed. (the package from aladdin requires it to be installed) When will pcscd in ubuntu repository be updated to the new version?
