** Description changed:

Using KDM, when I log out of my KDE session I get a blank screen.
Pressing 'Alt F1' or 'Ctrl Alt F1' does not get me a virtual terminal.
Ctrl-Alt-Backspace seems to do nothing (not even disk activity). My
only option is to reboot. This happens every time.

If I use GDM, this does not occur, hence I'm putting this as a KDM bug,
but that might be the wrong package.

I have been using Jaunty pre-releases and continuously updating for
several months, and this wasn't happening a few weeks ago. I cannot pin
down exactly when it started happening (since I don't actually just log
  out that often).

I'm using an ATI graphics card, with the open source radeon driver.

  Xorg logs shows a crash.

  Extract below:

(EE) AIGLX error: dlopen of /usr/lib/dri/(null)_dri.so failed
(/usr/lib/dri/(null)_dri.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory)
