I know GNOME and Ubuntu Spanish Translators are translating as neutrally as possible so that those translations can be used in all Spanish speaking countries. And that is the reason why I don't understand the use of "vídeo" instead of "video".
I haven't found any discussions in the lists of these teams that suggest that there is an agreement to use "vídeo" as the recommended translation for the English "video". I'm not saying that RAE has no meanings used in other Spanish speaking countries, I'm saying the dictionary is in the process to include them, so there are many entries that don't do that yet. For this reason I think we should not judge the correctness of a translation based only in what RAE says. I'm sorry to be a pain in the neck but I don't understand.
