IIRC, the video_covers dir is now /var/lib/mythtv/posters. It is in 9.04, and I believe was also in 8.10. This only applies to NEW DB's, existing DB's will have either the old setting, or whatever people changed it to.
I think the main problem still exists though (unless it was fixed in 9.04).
