** Description changed: Upon a fresh install of Jaunty 9.04 I have no sound on my HP CQ-60 laptop. I initially visited this bug report https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+question/68121 , but it seems to reflect solely towards a Realtek chip set, which, frankly, being the absolute noob that I am to all of this, I really don't know if I have. Reading through that bug report, I pulled up the Alsa report, which is available here: http://www.alsa- project.org/db/?f=a99fe1afde4dc1758bc827e93e24c67378565c7e In addition, I am not running Pulseaudio, as reported here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/316125 I tried my best to search up any possible solutions and resolutions to my particular case...but am just unclear on what could be right and wrong with any of them. Confusion reigns on the noobie! heh. Thanks for any help you may be with this... Package version: 1.0.18-1 + + **Update: 19 May, 2009. I gave up on this. I reformatted the disk and + loaded 8.10 instead, without problem.
