I try to upgrade from 8.04 to 9.04 and i have the error that you explain before: Can't install "kubuntu-kde4-desktop" It was impossible to install a required package. Please report this as a bug.
I can't install kubuntu-desktop or kubuntu-kde4-desktop because these packages not exist in 8.04 version.
