Did you remove the ubuntu-supplied driver from Jaunty? What you described is what happens when an unpatched driver tries to connect to a WPA(2) AP with mixed TKIP / AES encryption. Also note that DKMS might be interfering with your module, so remove the rt2860-dkms package and the kernel module, and then try compiling and installing the patched 2.1.1.0 module. Also reboot after compiling the module, just to make sure.
