You say that the keys are recognized when you try to bind them in gnome-
keybinding-properties - are they shown with exactly these names -
XF86Mail, XF86Homepage, and XF86Launch2?
If you can see these key names, then this must not be a bug with hotkey
input, but instead a problem with GNOME's handling of these keys.
