+ UPDATE: I removed the package files from /var/cache/apt/archives and did
download anew, then everything worked fine.

  Binary package hint: system-config-printer

I did a complete fresh install of ubuntu 9.04. Rather at the end,
synaptic came w/ a message saying (in German):

  "E: /var/cache/apt/archives/system-config-printer-
  common_1.1.3+git20090218-0ubuntu19.1_all.deb: defektes Tar-Dateisystem -
  Paketarchiv ist defekt"

which might mean s.th. like defect in the tar-file system / package
  archive respectively.

  Cheers, Hartmut
