The purpose of the linux-backports-modules package is for this very
reason of needing an updated version of a driver. The ath5k will
unfortunately not be backported to the main Ubuntu kernel so please
continue to use the driver from lbm if that resolves the issue you are
seeing. Otherwise your other options would be to update to the latest
Karmic development kernel which will have this newer version included.
For now I'm marking this Fix Released against linux-backports-modules.
