Thanks to a different forum member, I have incorporated a suggestion from this
Bug Report to make the quite different MTink package work for Ubuntu 8.04.2,
9.04 and LinuxMint 7.
I used graphical Synaptic to install mtink then sudo nautilus in Terminal to
change the Permissions of /dev/usb/lp0 to allow Read/Write by Others and sudo
adduser 'username' lp to add myself to the lp group, Restarted and set MTink
preferences for the Port and Printer Choices, restarted the printer and after a
pause it all sprang into life.

So, if there are no objections, I'd like to leave the status of this
Report as Invalid and rate it as unimportant and recommend folk to use
MTink instead.
