Supported vendor patches. These are patches generally related to hardware support. If they are very specific to a piece of hardware, the nature of the patch makes regression on other hardware unlikely or impossible, and we have the hardware available for thorough testing, then it can be part of an SRU. The commit log message you quoted is slightly misleading in that it implies the gspca_spca501 kernel module occasionally works, which is not the case under Jaunty. It is 100% non-functional for all hardware it supports. Cherry-picking this patch corrects the issue, and is less regression-prone than the Jaunty commit that fixed bug 374122. This bug does not justify any immediate repackaging, but please reconsider committing the cherry-pick to the Jaunty git tree.
