Can you comment if this is still an issue for you? Examining your
DpkgTerminalLog.gz file didn't reveal much additional information:
The application 'frontend' lost its connection to the display :0.0;
most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed
the application.
User postinst hook script [/sbin/update-grub] exited with value 1
dpkg: error processing linux-image-2.6.27-9-generic (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
