I could play music behind a Squid proxy until authentication was
enabled. Unfortunately now Rhythmbox encounters 407 "Authentication
required" errors on the terminal when last.fm streams are played. The
only visible problem the user sees is that Rhythmbox wants to find a
codec for text/html, as the proxy server returns an HTML page with the
error.

Attempting to play radio stations results in a much more obvious popup
which says "Couldn't start playback" with the error "Proxy
Authentication Required".

I am using Rhythmbox 0.12.0. The proxy is set correctly (with
credentials) in the Gnome configuration and in my ~/.bashrc.

I will open a separate bug for this specific problem, but I thought I
would note here that (prior to authentication being required) I could
play last.fm and readio streams fine through a proxy.
