i have this problem also with ubuntu jaunty, sd card isnt recognized by
ubuntu, but putting in a usb device brings up the usb device's contents
and the sd card's contents. i did

> sudo modprobe usb-storage

and then sd card was detected instantly and a window popped up with the contents
when i ran the code it also said

WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/irda-utils, it
will be ignored in a future release.

so maybe this file needs .conf, this WARNING message also comes up when i start
the computer so maybe it has the code to add usb-storage to the kernel in it
and it isnt ran because it is missing .conf
whatever. anyways im going to try adding .conf and rebooting and seeing what
happens :)
