Either upgrade to Ubuntu 9.04 or downgrade back to OOo 2.4.1 that comes
with Intrepid.
There were problems with the network support built into OOo 3.0.1 so
they had to be worked around, but the work arounds do not work on 8.10
they only work on 9.04 and newer.
