I'm also experiencing this bug on a Dell Inspiron 1720. j...@thor:/var/log$ uname -a Linux thor 2.6.30-02063005-generic #02063005 SMP Mon Aug 17 09:46:11 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux
j...@thor:/var/log$ lspci | grep Audio 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02) Under 2.6.28 "max" volume on the laptop seems appropriate from past releases. Under 2.6.30, the sound is noticably lower even under maximum settings. j...@thor:/var/log$ apt-cache policy alsa-base alsa-base: Installed: 1.0.18.dfsg-1ubuntu8 Candidate: 1.0.18.dfsg-1ubuntu8 j...@thor:/var/log$ apt-cache policy pulseaudio pulseaudio: Installed: 1:0.9.14-0ubuntu20.2 Candidate: 1:0.9.14-0ubuntu20.2 I might try updating alsa, if I can find an easy way to do so. Pulseaudio might also need an update to work with the new kernel. Interesting enough, both computers I use, one with a SigmaTel HDA codec and another with another HDA codec always seem to have a lower volume than under Windows Vista, and Windows 7 respectively. If you need any further info please let me know. I plan on continuing to use this kernel, or possibly updating to 2.6.31 when its released. If 2.6.31 solves the issue I'll post as well. Thanks. -- after updating to kernel 2.6.30, audio volume is low https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/398548 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
