I don't think a Depends on postgresql-client needs to be added. It
already has a depends on libpq5 by which it communicates to a server.
So I think the Depends is sufficient and necessary.
So that brings the point about whether it should Recommend postgresql.
I suspect it was added because it might be useful in testing the plugin
or setting it up with a local server. It fits your description of
"optional parts that are not absolutely required, just to run/use the
package."
Setting to Incomplete to get feedback on the above two statements. But
I think it could conceivably be set to Invalid if Psi-Jack agrees.
Pedantic aside: postgresql isn't a virtual package, but rather a meta
package. Virtual packages are packages that don't actually exist, but
are referenced in Depends lines and Provides lines (like www-browser).
But I understood your point.
