After a few more trials it appears just to be the occasional heavy duty website that poses confusion to 'open office' and can't make sense of it - so in this respect it is probably not a bug so much as asking too much sometimes of perhaps any word processing program. Just don't want to cause loss of time to the bug brigade unnecessarily. Most applications paste without a hitch it seems - from 999terry
