Hi, I had a similar behavior with my ASUS X5DIJ-SX018L notebook with Ubuntu 9.04. However things improved a lot as I modified the regional frequency regulation configuration. The driver seems to follow the US frequency regulations by default; this can cause trouble when the AP uses a different scheme.
