** Description changed: Hi! i have a similar problem than: "Screen & Keyboard Crashes/hangs but CPU continues to work". It is a rather new Netbook (Gigabyte T1028M) with Intel 945GSE graphics chipset. All hardware works pretty fine in ubuntu (Netbook Remix). I experienced the problem first with JAUNTY (before and after the update to the new intel drivers). Then I tried upgrading to KARMIC but the problem persists (i do updates almost every day)... The screen is completely freezing, the mouse is not moving and no reaction to any keyboard input - even pressing the power switch (shortly) doesnt work. I feel this happens only when i am somehow "active" clicking around somewhere and not while watching videos for example. Anyhow, it is still possible to connect via SSH: I tried to restart gdm typing "sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart". It says that this succeeded but the screen keeps frozen... Probably the system doesnt even recognize that something crashed (just thinking) So i ended up typing "sudo reboot" to shutdown softly... I know these are somewhat few informations. Please tell me what i can do to help solving that problem. + + I just found some errors reported by dmesg: + [ 359.402895] type=1505 audit(1252176393.613:12): operation="profile_replace" pid=4403 name=/usr/sbin/cupsd + [ 495.106501] ath9k: timeout (100000 us) on reg 0x806c: 0xdeadbeef & 0x01f00000 != 0x00000000 + [ 495.106545] ath9k: RX failed to go idle in 10 ms RXSM=0xdeadbeef + [ 1075.304094] ACPI: EC: missing confirmations, switch off interrupt mode. + [ 1075.809087] ACPI Exception: AE_TIME, Returned by Handler for [EmbeddedControl] 20090521 evregion-424 + [ 1075.809137] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.BAT0._BST] (Node f7011510), AE_TIME + [ 1075.809249] ACPI Exception: AE_TIME, Evaluating _BST 20090521 battery-385 + [ 1418.753104] atkbd.c: Unknown key pressed (translated set 2, code 0x65 on isa0060/serio0). + [ 1418.753125] atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes 65 <keycode>' to make it known.
