about the kernel version where it changed from "hwcap 0 nosegneg" to
"hwcap 1 nosegneg" along with other things which sound important and may
or may not be related to this issue.

The current bug has been marked "Fix Released".  Does that mean the next
EC2 image built will no longer have this problem?  Scott, can you  test
this?
