hi, You are still not getting it.
What you need is not a fork but a proper package. To ease this move I added the possibility to use the system library AND to have the php specific features like the imagefilter or imagerotate functions. In the long run this compatibility layer will be pointless as lilbgd.org's gd will have these features as well (gd 2.1) but that won't make it into 5.3 or 5.2. However the compatibility layer can be easily backported to your packages.
