It seems this should be fixed with bug 363465 if you used update-
manager. Did you use update-manager to do the update? If so, which
version? I don't believe the kernel package would have removed grub, it
actually recommends a bootloader be installed - "Recommends: grub-pc |
grub | lilo (>= 19.1)" .
