Ok, I remembered the old error message in syslog now and then I searched
my current logs again:

[ 661.330371] ath5k phy0: noise floor calibration timeout (2452MHz)

So this issue hasn't been fixed in ath5k for almost a year now. I think
I will switch back to madwifi soon and everybody else having these or
similar problems should consider this as well until ath5k is more
mature. However, a friend has informed me that madwifi doesn't run well
on amd64. So if you're running Ubuntu/amd64 you should rather stay with
ath5k or just try madwifi yourself and be warned that might not work at
all.
