Please search for the rsyslog. It seems to me that your logging daemon is not running.
Please look at the Processes tab in the System Monitor application (can be found in System > Administration > System monitor. Choose View | All Processes from the menu and check if rsyslog is listed. Actually aptdaemon should not fail because of a not running logging daemon.
