Some days ago I have received an update for the alsa drivers from the PPA repository. Now on my system the latest version 1.0.21 is installed. Naturally I have tested if something is changed for my problem with the microphone. After the first reboot I have found that the speakers and the hear-phones don't work anymore! But surprise, surprise, the microphone works very well. This is very strange. So, I made some research in the alsa documentation and I have found a couple of setting that could work: 1) I inserted this line <options snd-hda-intel model=hp-hdx enable_msi=1> at the end of the file </etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf> and I rebooted. result ==> no speakers audio, microphone ok, one time the hear-phones works, one time no. This is strange because the "hp-hdx" is exactly my model of laptop
2) I inserted this line <options snd-hda-intel model=hp-m4 enable_msi=1> at the end of the file </etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf> replacing the line above and I rebooted. result ==> speakers audio ok, microphone not working, hear-phones audio ok. The "hp-m4" is not exactly my model of laptop, but at least the sound work. I guess that the model "hp-m4" excludes the microphone, so the main audio can work. It is as if the main audio and the microphone were mutually exclusive. -- Internal Microphone don't work on Laptop HP HDX 18 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/393165 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
