PS: Here is an article about the inner workings of Drobo and what this implies for its support by Linux (not FireWire-specific): http://groups.google.com/group/drobo-talk/web/linux-support?hl=en Due to Drobo and DroboPro firmware limitations, it is currently impractical to use a logical unit size larger than the default 2.0 TiB under Linux: http://groups.google.com/group/drobo-talk/browse_thread/thread/34f08da1708d2f7b I.e. if you have more than 2 TB net disk space built into the Drobo or DroboPro, it needs to be exposed to Linux as a 2nd and perhaps 3rd logical unit indeed.
