er... no, not a server error. This one stumped me for a while. If for any reason your local network has been down, Evolution will switch into off-line mode without telling you and grey out the send-receive button. This will then persist indefinitely even if you subsequently have a network connection. Go to Evolution's File menu and switch it back into online mode.
