The latest update has fixed some of the problems: The desktop has returned and can be managed and i can open windows' again. Nautilus won't give me an inconsistency error unless i "sudo nautilus" however it will still load. Smplayer is the same though.
I also installed totem and vlc to try a different video-player but they won't start at all.
