The "no reply" timeout is usually a symptom of a D-BUS service crashing
while it executes a pending request. If you can still reproduce this in
current karmic, please do
sudo /usr/lib/devicekit-disks/devkit-disks-daemon --replace
>/tmp/dkd.txt 2>&1
then reproduce the problem. Does it crash or stay alive? Please attach
/tmp/dkd.txt here.
Did you ever get an apport report about the crash?
