Public bug reported:
This bug is common with a lot of samsung laptops. Please see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/360247 for example.
The problem manifests after you enable hal or udev to recognise the
laptop's keymap. I will submit a patch for udev also.
The keys for brightness (fn+up / fn+down) are repeated which causes the
ui to become unresponsive. It is also important to note that no acpi
brightness functionality is exposed in the initial revision of the bios.
I had to update to rev. 04 of the bios and this exposed the brightness
controls to acpi.
I have created a bug up-steam with a patch.
