@Jonathon, Thanks for that info, one more thing to do to get some mode debug so I can compare and contrast debug logs:
using sudo create and edit the file /etc/modprobe.d/pwc.conf containing the following: options pwc trace=255 Now reboot the machine with the webcam already plugging in, login and start the webcam application and again attach the dmesg output to this bug report.
