Yes, exactly an hour ago my machine hang again. With the new package updates it 
is not so frequent the hang but it happens. No kernel oops/panic observed. 
Please see the attached syslog: the hang happens after 17 Oct. 10:10. I waited 
until 17 Oct. 10:17 and rebooted the machine. No events are logged between 
10:10-10:17. Only the power off button helps because it hang forever and not 
only for a short period as you mentioned.
Usually the hang happens when I do a massive network activity. In this case was 
"sudo apt-get upgrade" It hangs when downloading the packages. Happened also 
when I copied from another linux machine a 700MB file. Usually I press the 
power off button, boot to a VT and do the packages upgrade. No hangs observed 
until now in VT. Can the GUI hang this way?

Can the following line have some relation to the problem?
rtkit-daemon[1490]: Failed to make ourselves RT: Invalid argument

How can I help you to debug the problem?
