This is still happening today. At some point last night I DID see some
messages regarding the cardbus slot on console ttys, but now the main
problems are that kern.log is constantly getting filled with new
messages and that the cardbus slot is in fact unusable, despite the fact
that it does work running Ubuntu 9.04. However the internal cardbus wifi
card does work.

This is a real show-stopper for 9.10 on this laptop.
