I extracted three lines from the log that are representative about what
happened. After these and a lot similar to the third one here, we can
see that the user started to create some folders and files, and everything
looks ok.
2009-10-26 14:17:26,187 - ubuntuone.SyncDaemon.local_rescan - INFO - scan dir:
'/home/eid/Ubuntu One' mdid: 249ff5b1-26b1-4063-bb23-218b521314bd
LR is about to start the scan of the "Ubuntu One" directory
2009-10-26 14:17:26,189 - ubuntuone.SyncDaemon.sync - INFO - T:NONE:T

[root:2692ca29-3b4e-4524-a194-c2e6f34e962a] ''/home/eid/Ubuntu One'' | Called
rescan_dir (In: T:NONE:T)
LR had a IOError while scanning the directory, signaled LR_SCAN_ERROR,
so Sync sent LR again on the directory. These IOError's happen because
the files started to dissapear under LR. As we don't have DEBUG logs,
we can not see which path failed.
2009-10-26 14:17:26,274 - ubuntuone.SyncDaemon.sync - INFO - -:-:- - [-:-]
''/home/eid/Ubuntu One/books/Type Theory & Functional Programming.pdf'' |
Called cancel_download_and_delete_on_server (In: T:SERVER:F)
These implies that FS_FILE_DELETED were received by Sync. As we don't
have DEBUG logs, we can not see how these were generated: they can
come from LR (because LR finds that the file is gone), or from the
filesystem itself. Most probably these came from filesystem, because
this will explain the LR_SCAN_ERROR above.
In any case, the signal is generated because the file is gone. LR
does NOT remove files without leaving .conflicts, and Sync neither
does it while handling the "cancel_download_and_delete_on_server"
state, so these files were not removed by our client.
There're a lot of lines like this, meaning that a lot of files
were deleted.
If I have to come to a conclussion analyzing these logs, I would say that
all the files were deleted by the user itself... most probably accidentally
or through a process he was not aware of (like moving the files somewhere
else), otherwise he wouldn't be filing the bug.
As I said above, with DEBUG information we would be able to be more precise
about what happened.
Joshua, I'm assigning this back to you, feel free to ping me back if you have
more
information about this case.
Thank you very much!
