Thanks for your feedback. Could you clarify the issue because I don't see the 
problem you're describing:
The root user *can* switch to another user session: can you confirm you were 
able to use the session normally?

Then, has the user session was already opened, the system refused to
shutdown the system without letting you properly close the other
session. The fact that it was a 'root' session is not directly the cause
of the behavior you're observing here.
