I should probably explain, that while 1280 x 1024 (5:4) "works", the average font size is two small to comfortably read for long periods, as I do, and small fonts are too small to read at all.
My problem is that I can not set the display to 1024 x 768 as was the default for Ubuntu 8.04 and before.
