I too have been getting this on my laptop - Gateway MD7818u. I've only noticed it since the upgrade to 9.10.
On my machine, it only occurs when the suspend / resume was activated through the lid switch, and only if the AC cable was removed while the machine was asleep. It does not occur if the machine is on AC power when resumed - regardless of AC state during suspend - or if the machine was suspended while on battery power. Also, the error does not occur if suspended through the indicator-applet menu and resumed through the laptop's power button, regardless of the AC state during the suspend or resume process. In my case, when the error occurs, the computer will resume to the unlock screen, then shut off, falling back into suspended mode. From this second suspension, it can be resumed via the power button and will continue as normal after that.
